Ms. Marvin has managed her own law practice and client base since 2004. Before starting the Law Office of Allison G. Marvin, Ms. Marvin practiced at the prestigious law firm of Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the firm's intellectual property, information technology, and corporate practice groups. Ms. Marvin advised business, art and cultural entities, such as Microsoft, Yahoo!, Patagonia, the National Geographic Society and the Smithsonian Institution, on copyright, trademark, trade dress, right of publicity, technology licensing, Internet, corporate governance, and information privacy matters. As a senior associate, Ms. Marvin initiated and co-coordinated the firm's Law of Art and Culture practice area.



Education & Clerkship


Ms. Marvin received her B.A. in Comparative Literature, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Haverford College in 1993, and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1998, where she was a member of the Raven Honor Society.

After law school, Ms. Marvin clerked for Justice Deborah Hankinson of the Supreme Court of Texas.
